New principals announced for Ferndale elementary schools

FERNDALE, Wash. β€” Today the Ferndale School District announced new principals would be at Central Elementary School and Cascadia Elementary School beginning August 1st.

According to an announcement posted to the district’s website, current Vista Middle School Assistant Principal Joel Francik has been chosen as the new Central Elementary School principal.

In addition, Kelly Parsons, currently assistant principal at Quil Ceda Tulalip Elementary School in the Marysville School District, will be the new Cascadia Elementary School Principal.

Francik has been an assistant principal at Vista Middle School for 2 years according to district officials. Previously Francik taught science in the Pasco and Richland school districts. Francik is a graduate of Washington State University where he received a BA in Management Information Systems and Whitworth University where he received his Masters in Teaching. His Administrative Certification is from Heritage University.

Parsons has been Quil Ceda Tulalip Elementary Assistant Principal for 2 years according to district officials. Before serving as assistant principal, Parsons taught in the Burlington-Edison School District and served as an Early Childhood Education Behavior Specialist and Migrant Academic and Parent Services Coordinator for the Northwest Educational Service District. Parsons received a BA in Elementary Education from Central Washington University and a MastersΒ in Educational Administration and a Residency Administrator certificate from Western Washington University.

District officials said the vacancies were created after former Cascadia Elementary School Principal Kellie Larrabee accepted the position of Executive Director for Teaching and Learning at the district and former Central Elementary School Principal Georgia Dellinger accepted a district-level position mentoring new principals and on the planning team for the new Ferndale High School.
