FERNDALE, Wash. — A commercial demolition permit was recently approved by the City of Ferndale for modifying the space adjacent to the Ferndale Grocery Outlet at 1750 LaBounty Drive, Suite 103, that has sat vacant since Cost Cutter grocery store closed its doors in 2014.
Permit applications on file at the city indicate Tractor Supply Company (NASDAQ: TSCO), based in Brentwood, Tennessee, is the proposed new tenant in the space. A commercial tenant improvement permit application has the total cost of the 23,000-square-foot project to be about $500,000.
According to the Tractor Supply Company website, “Tractor Supply Company (also referred to as TSC) owns and operates over 1,700 stores in 49 states.” Other locations in western Washington include Lynden, Mount Vernon, Arlington and Oak Harbor. Products offered include “clothing, equine and pet supplies, tractor/trailer parts and accessories, lawn and garden supplies, sprinkler/irrigation parts, power tools, fencing, welding and pump supplies, riding mowers.” But not tractors.

According to a site plan submitted to the city, there will be an outdoor display area in a currently unused space behind an adjacent building occupied by Coconut Kenny’s restaurant and other tenants.
Company officials said they are planning on a fall 2019 store opening that will add about 15 new jobs to the Ferndale area, with at least half of those being full-time positions. They are opening more than 80 stores in 2019.
