FERNDALE, Wash. — Heavy rains and warm temperatures in the Cascades Mountains today, Saturday, May 30th, are likely to be credited for an unseasonal Nooksack River level forecast showing the river cresting tomorrow just shy of the official minor flood stage.
National Weather Service Seattle office reported this evening that 1-inch of rain had fallen in the mountains over the past 24 hours and one-third inch fell locally.
The forecast for the river level at Ferndale as of 4:30pm today is for it to rise quickly from about the 9-foot mark at 6pm tonight to the 17-foot mark by 6pm tomorrow, Sunday, May 31st.
