FERNDALE, Wash. — In the years since the Ferndale branch of Bank of the Pacific Bank closed, the building has remained vacant. That is about to change according to a tenant improvement permit recently approved by City of Ferndale staff.

The permit is to remodel the existing bank banking, located at 1860 Main Street, to house a new Ferndale First Federal Savings and Loan branch.

The 1,528-square-foot building was first built to house Mount’s Caffe restaurant (date unknown). It was sold to Bank of the Pacific in 2007 and remodeled in 2008 to house their Ferndale branch until it was announced in 2015 it, along with another branch, would be closed.

A City of Ferndale business license for First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Port Angeles is currently pending approval.
