City staff had announced Monday to expect long delays on Portal Way Friday, August 10th due to paving at the compact roundabout being built at the northbound I-5 on- and off-ramps and Portal Way. But this morning they announced that paving work has been moved to Thursday.

According to City staff, paving is expected to begin 3:30pm on Thursday, August 9th, and continue through midnight Thursday evening. Drivers are warned paving activity is expected to result in longer traffic delays than have been experienced during the earlier phases of this project.

No paving is expected on Friday but delays can be expected. Flaggers will still be guiding traffic through the area as work continues.

As reported earlier, the northbound I-5 on- and off-ramps at Portal Way are scheduled to be closed for paving beginning Monday, August 13th, and continue for up to a total of 5 days. Drivers will be detoured via the Grandview Road and Main Street I-5 interchanges.
