Puget Sound Energy reported the outage, impacting a large portion of east Ferndale (see map), was first reported at 11am and impacted 972 of their customers, both business and residential.

PSE reported over 56,000 of their customers throughout Puget Sound are with out power as of 12pm today. That number includes several thousand impacted by scatter outages all over western Whatcom County.

High winds have been pummeling the area with sustained northeast winds (Fraser Valley outflow) of about 25mph with gusts around 50mph including 1 gust around 8:55am that was recorded at 70mph at a weather station located near Ferndale High School.

As a result of the number of outages, PSE is not providing an estimate for when to expect power to be restored.

A large outage in north Ferndale has left 1000 without power since 9:20am this morning and another 1000 have been without power across Lummi Island and the eastern two-thirds of the Lummi Peninsula since before 6am.
