Power pole toppled by errant 4×4 SUV

Power needed to be turned off to the neighborhood around Hovander Homestead Park this morning after a crash on Hovander Road.

A red Toyota 4Runner SUV ended up head-on into a power pole on Hovander Road, east of Nielsen Road and west of Scout Place, about 9:30am this morning. The section road was closed off due to live wires from the damaged pole posing a hazard.

As of the time of the writing of this story, details had yet to be released how the SUV ended up off the road.

Puget Sound Energy crews responded and temporarily shut off power in the area to enable removing the SUV and to repair or replace the damaged pole. PSE reported about 40 customers were without power as a result.
