Friday morning teams of runners and their support vans will be converging on Ferndale as they participate in the Annual Northwest Passage Ragnar Relay.
Starting in the early morning hours, the race begins in Blaine and ends on Whidbey Island. Runners will arrive in Ferndale via Olson Road from Grandview Road. They will turn down Thornton Street to Church Road, Then north on Church to Brown Road and down Vista Drive to the high school.
Expect lots of runner and vehicle activity around Cascadia Elementary and the high school as those are relay hand-off points.
Runners will then continue out of Ferndale via Main Street to Hovander Drive, to Smith Road and south on LaBounty Road to Sunset Avenue. From there they will take Rural Avenue to Slater Road and head out to Northwest Drive and continue on through Bellingham.
Drivers should take extra caution as the runners may not be familiar with the roads or the course through Ferndale.
