Rally speakers: Don’t give up hope after Intalco closure announcement (videos)

FERNDALE, Wash. — About 150 people showed up in the Pioneer Park Pavilion Community Center parking lot yesterday, April 23rd, for a quickly organized rally to support Alcoa Intalco Works employees. The rally was held the day after Alcoa announced they were planning to close the aluminum smelter by the end of July.

Washington State Senator Doug Ericksen and State Representative Luanne Van Werven opened the rally.

Officers from International Association of Machinists (IAM) Local Lodge 2379 also spoke along with Retired U.S. Army Foreign Area Officer and consultant Lt. Col. James McKinney. McKinney referred to a recent opinion article he wrote for The Epoch Times.

Ericksen then closed the rally with some parting guidance.
