Candidate’s submitted biography (unedited):

I am a proud father of two daughters and have been happily married for over 25 years. I moved to Whatcom County in 1993 to continue my civil engineering career and launch my own private business. On multiple occasions, I have provided input to city staff in developing city policies and codes. For example, I provided input in drafting the zero-lot line code, accessory dwelling units (ADU) code, trail sections, the new RMH zoning in the City of Ferndale and solutions to the Ferndale downtown lack of parking to mention a few.

The first fundamental Canon for Engineers, in the fulfillment of their professional duties is that engineers shall: “Hold paramount the safety, health, and welfare of the public”. Engineering has a direct and vital impact on the quality of life for all people and I intend to uphold these standards if elected.

My goal is to establish a line of communication between the city officials and the public so the community’s concerns can be heard.

I am an avid traveler, hiker, sports fisherman and soccer fan. In my free time, I like to spend time with my family and cats as well as go on hikes in Washington state.

I am confident my experience in the private and public sector will assist in Ferndale’s policy making decisions which strengthen Ferndale’s local businesses, infrastructure, and public services.
