Kidde has issued a recall for about 452,000 smoke detector products sold in the US due to “risk of failure to alert consumers to a fire.”
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC),
A yellow cap left on during the manufacturing process can cover one of the two smoke sensors and compromise the smoke alarm’s ability to detect smoke, posing a risk of consumers not being alerted to a fire in their home.

Models included in the recall are Kidde dual-sensor (photoelectric and ionization) smoke alarms – models PI2010 and PI9010 sold at Menards, The Home Depot, Walmart and other department, home and hardware stores nationwide and online at Amazon.com, ShopKidde.com and other websites from September 2016 through January 2018 for between $20 and $40. Kidde provided the following graphic to aid in identifying which units are included in the recall.
Kidde is advising to replace affected smoke alarms that contain the yellow protective cap.

CPSC says,
The reverse-mow option switch can malfunction and allow the riding lawn mowers to unintentionally mow when being driven in a reverse direction, posing a risk of injury to bystanders.
Mowers included in the recall were sold at Briggs & Stratton dealers nationwide from August 2016 through January 2018 for between $1,500 and $13,000.
