Whatcom County Public Works is gearing up for the roadwork season and notable on this year’s project list is “replace an existing 10-foot wide by 7-foot tall steel arch culvert under Slater Road at Jordan Creek.” Slater Road is expected to be closed between Terrell Lake Road and Elder Road through late 2017 or early 2018 while the project is underway.
Public Works says the project is currently expected to begin “sometime in May or June.”
Traffic will be detoured around the work area during the project via Unick and Elder Roads.
Public Works said last year, when the project was first announced, they have been monitoring the area due to the deteriorated condition of the culvert. Should conditions at the site become unsafe, Slater Road traffic will be directed to the detour route before the project begins.
