FERNDALE, Wash. — Whatcom County Fire District 7 (WCFD7) personnel and Whatcom County Sheriff’s (WCSO) Office deputies were dispatched to the 6200 block of Northwest Drive about 3pm today, September 4th, after 911 dispatchers received a report of 2-vehicle rollover crash.

At the scene were a blue Tesla 4-door passenger car with moderate front-left body damage and a white Toyota pickup with substantial front-end and passenger compartment damage.

A witness said it appeared both vehicles were northbound on Northwest Drive when the Tesla attempted to turn left into the Boxx Berry Farm retail store parking lot, the Toyota attempted to pass and the cars clipped each other. The Toyota ended up upright on the west side of the road and the Tesla stopped in the parking lot entrance.

The Toyota’s cab was partially crushed and it’s left-rear tire and wheel were lying to the right of where the pickup ended up.

According to WCFD7 Assistant Fire Chief Dean Crosswhite, there were 4 patients at the scene and only the driver of the Toyota was transported to PeaceHealth St Joseph’s Medical Center. Crosswhite said they were transporting the driver as a precautionary measure given the various impacts the truck had visibly sustained.

The WCSO was investigating the crash at the time of this story.
