FERNDALE, Wash. — For the past 2 years, the Bellingham Scottish Gathering has been held at Hovander Homestead Park. This year, it will be held on property adjacent to the North Bellingham Golf Course according to a press release from the organizer, Scottish Dance Society.
North Bellingham Golf Course is owned by Caitac USA Corp who also owns undeveloped property surrounding the course.
Executive Director Heather Richendrfer said she is thrilled at what the change in venue provides the annual event. “This is a very positive option for the Gathering,” Richendrfer said in the press release.
In addition to the athletic, dance and music performances and competitions, food vendors and animal displays, a golf tournament will be added to the event this year.
“A game of golf on our Scottish Links Style course seems like a natural fit to the Scottish Gathering and Games and should only enhance the festival which will use the wide open fields surrounding the course for all of their other events. With games, music, animals, food vendors, and a beer garden; it should be quite the gathering,” PGA Head Professional Nathan Vickers said in the press release.
“I am very pleased to be working with the professional staff at North Bellingham Golf Course,” Richendrfer said in the press release. “It is a partnership bringing another aspect of Scottish culture to our event. We are excited to share this experience with participants and visitors.”
The Bellingham Scottish Gathering is made possible in part by City of Bellingham and Whatcom County Tourism Grants according to Richendrfer.
