Firefighters were dispatched about 4:40am to a report of downed wires starting multiple brush fires on S Red River Road near Slater Road. Initially 1 fire engine was dispatched but ultimately several responded along with several tenders and a brush truck.

According to a witness, there was an initial flash and sparks over the field. High winds fanned the fire and it grew quickly. Winds in the area were gusting to 60mph at the time.

Slater Road was closed form approximately 6am and 7am while firefighters dealt with downed power lines and the quickly spreading fire. The fire was reported out by 7am.
