It was only a few days again when forecasters forewarned of snow across several days. Now, the potential is only during the weekend.
The one variable all the forecasters and models are in agreement about is cold Artic air will be moving into the area early next week. What has changed is the amount and timing of precipitation at the same time.
Current forecasts call for snow late New Year’s Eve and into New Year’s Day. It will not be until later this week before any accurate timing and depth estimates can be given according to forecasters.
Then, while subfreezing air sets over the area beginning Monday, dry conditions are expected which will eliminate the possibility for additional snow.
Temperatures are expected to remain below freezing beginning Sunday evening through at least Friday under clear skies.
