Some snow to the north, wind potential remains

FERNDALE, Wash. β€” Forecast high winds were a no-show overnight but are probable to occur for a short time around noon today, January 10th, according to computer forecast models. Southwesterly gusts are expected to reach closer to 40mph than the high wind warning’s estimate of 60mph.

We have received reports of snow and rain mix to the north and south of the Ferndale area. Travel on I-5 north of Ferndale appears to have been impacted as travel times are longer than normal (reduced speed) this morning.

A strong front will move through Western Washington today. The low pressure system associated with the front will move ashore Saturday. Another vigorous weather system will reach the area on Sunday as cold Fraser outflow begins. A modified arctic front will move south through Western Washington Sunday evening.
