UPDATE 6/8 – the playground is ‘officially’ open.
While there was a celebratory ribbon cutting and kids got the chance to romp on and around the playground yesterday evening, as of this morning it is closed until further notice.
This morning a representative from the playground manufacturer, Leathers & Associates, did a walk-through with city staff. It was noted there were far fewer “punch list” items than had been seen on past community-built playgrounds they had been part of. But there are some yet-to-be-finished items that prevent accessing some portions of the playground. City staff could only estimate that it would take several days before the park can be reopened.
According to city staff, they are waiting on “securing materials” and plan to hold another evening work party. The wait on materials is the biggest unknown for estimating a reopen date.
In the mean time, here is what the park looked like this morning (click images to enlarge).
