Yesterday, the National Weather Service (NWS) in Seattle issued a Winter Storm Watch for tomorrow. Today, that Winter Storm Watch was cancelled and a Winter Weather Advisory issued in its place.

The Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 4pm Thursday to noon Friday.

Snow is still expected in western Whatcom County by late afternoon or early evening Thursday as a weather system moves into the region. Snow is expected to begin first at the south end of Puget Sound and move north, reaching the Ferndale area by late afternoon.

According to the advisory, snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches in the lower elevations is expected and snow should change to rain before daybreak Friday. the Fraser outflow will
keep snow around the Ferndale area a little longer so the advisory here ends at noon.
