About 5:30pm today, law enforcement responded to a report of a bank robbery at the Washington Federal Ferndale branch at 3rd Avenue and Main Street.
Witnesses reported the suspect was seen leaving on foot according to law enforcement radio transmissions.
Law enforcement from multiple agencies were seen on-site and a canine could be seen tracking nearby soon after.
Ferndale Police released the following information:
At 5:31PM on September 22, 2017, Ferndale Police responded to Washington Federal Bank in the 2000 block of Main Street for a robbery. Employees reported that a pale skinned Hispanic male, younger looking, about 5’-6” tall with a thin build, wearing baggy clothing (blue/gray button up flannel, white baseball hat with a New York Yankees logo) had demanded money from a teller. The suspect presented a note demanding money. After being provided with a small amount of cash, the suspect fled through the main doors on to Main Street and proceeded eastbound.
With the assistance of the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office, the Washington State Patrol and Lummi Tribal Police, a search of the immediate area for the suspect was conducted. However, the suspect was not located.
