Trees downed by high winds are being blamed for closing both the northbound and southbound lanes of I-5 between the Bow Hill (236mp) and Chuckanut Drive (231mp) interchanges.
The lanes were closed when trees brought down wires into the roadway and some vehicles became entangled. Washington State Patrol reported no injuries resulted.
A detour route has been established via Old Highway 99 N. No estimate has been provided for when the interstate is expected to be reopened. Drivers can monitor the WSDOT travel alerts page for updates.
WSDOT reports 1 lane northbound has been reopened to through traffic. The southbound lanes remained closed. There is no estimate for when they will be able to reopen all lanes.
WSDOT reports all lanes of northbound and southbound I-5 that were closed are now open.
