Remember the work scheduled on Pioneer Bridge that would reduce Main Street to one lane yesterday? It didn’t happen which may have been a relief to anyone who forgot and found themselves driving over the bridge during the planned work hours.
City staff responded to an email inquiry this morning acknowledging the work had not happened as planned. “The contractor informed us yesterday afternoon that he had a scheduling conflict and wouldn’t be on the bridge until Friday. Same times, 9am-3pm.”
Drivers should now plan for Main Street to be reduced to one lane through the work area with flaggers alternating traffic flow tomorrow.
Drivers can expect backups on not only Main Street but also nearby side streets and alternate routes around the work area.
According to City staff, crews will be replacing the streetlights with new, energy efficient LEDs, the final step in the partnership between the City, PSE and the State Transportation Improvement Board to update streetlights throughout the city.
