Traffic Alert: Slater Road reopened after flood closure

FERNDALE, Wash. — Whatcom County Public Works reopened Slater Road about 8:30am this morning, Thursday, January 9th. The road had been closed since Tuesday due to flood water over the road.

Marine Drive, between Rural Avenue and Ferndale Road, as well as Ferndale Road, between Slater Road and Marine Drive, were reopened late yesterday although drivers can still expect water and debris over the roadway. Marine Drive, between Ferndale Road and Lummi Shore Road/Drive, remains closed.

Updated current road closure information is available on the MFN Traffic page.

The closures were the result of Nooksack River flooding as the river crested at 16.6 feet Tuesday around 6pm.
