Wednesday, October 31st, is Halloween. Around Ferndale that means ghouls and goblins, along with super heroes, cartoon characters, etc., will be taking to the streets in search of candy.

Newer well-lit neighborhoods often find themselves besieged by a flood of trick-or-treaters.

If following the crowds is not for you or heading out earlier is a better choice, here are a few other trick-or-treating opportunities off the beaten path.

  • Whatcom County Fire District 7 fire station 46 at 6081 Church Road will be handing out candy, serving hot chocolate and coffee and offering photos in front of the fire trucks with firefighters between 4pm and 8pm.
  • Whatcom County Fire District 7 fire station 43 at 5368 Northwest Drive will be handing out candy, serving hot chocolate and coffee and offering photos in front of the fire trucks with firefighters between 4pm and 8pm.
  • Ferndale Police will be patrolling Ferndale area neighborhoods with candy again this year. Extra patrol officers will be out helping between 5pm and 9pm. The candy was donated by Rite Aid, Fred Meyer, Target, Haggen and Walgreens.
