FERNDALE, Wash. — First responders were dispatched about 4:30pm Saturday, January 9th, to 3 locations on N Enterprise Road due to reports of separate crashes.

Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) Chief Deputy Kevin Hester said in an email today that there had been a crash at the intersection of N Enterprise Road and Willeys Lake Road. “A dark sedan had run the stop sign at the intersection and struck a vehicle that was southbound on N. Enterprise Road,” Hester said. The dark sedan then fled the scene of the crash southbound on N Enterprise Road.

When it arrived at the S-curve at Harksell Road, the dark sedan “failed to negotiate the turn from N. Enterprise to Harksell Road and had crashed through a guardrail and struck a tree, totaling the car,” according to Hester.

The driver, identified as Dominick Ray Lucero, age 28, of Bothell, was detained at the scene and taken into custody.

Whatcom County Fire District 7 Fire Chief Larry Hoffman said Lucero was transported to PeaceHealth St Joseph Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Hester said he was treated and released and then booked into Whatcom County Jail.

According to jail records, Lucero was charged with suspicion of hit and run with injury and driving under the influence. He posted a $2,500 bond and was released Sunday, January 10th.

While there was a report of a crash at Birch Bay-Lynden Road and N Enterprise Road at the same time as the other 2 crashes, none was located by first responders.
