If the prospect of snow is not enough, the Seattle office of the National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Wind Advisory for today.
The advisory will be in effect until 8pm today, Thursday. This will coincide with a Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 4pm until noon tomorrow.
The NWS Wind Advisory warns of east or northeast sustained winds of 25 to 35mph with gusts to 50mph.
Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Drivers are advised to use extra caution. Local power outages are possible.
The potential for increased driving difficulties and power outages are worsened by the forecast of snow-covered roads this evening along with current low temperatures.
The NWS Winter Weather Advisory advises to be prepared for winter driving conditions. These conditions can be made more challenging by powerful winds.
Neighbors should also be prepared for the possibility of power outages with subfreezing temperatures. Practice safe heating methods and look out for neighbors who may need assistance.
