Wind Advisory issued for Tuesday AM to Wednesday AM

FERNDALE, Wash. — National Weather Service Seattle office weather forecasters issued a Wind Advisory this afternoon, December 30th, in anticipation of the arrival of the first of a series of active weather systems expected this week.

Sustained southerly winds of 15 to 25mph with gusts up to 35mph are expected Tuesday morning. Then southerly sustained winds of 20 to 35mph with gusts up to 45mph are expected late Tuesday morning through early Wednesday.

Winds are expected to diminish Wednesday but remain breezy.

Heavy mountain and lowland rain will accompany this weather system. The Nooksack River level forecast at Ferndale as of 3:45pm today expects the river to crest Wednesday at about the 15-foot mark and again Saturday or Sunday above the 17-foot mark.

Some local road closures typically occur after the river has reached the 15-foot mark.

Another round of expected strong winds is expected to begin Friday and continue into Saturday with the strongest wind gusts occurring Saturday morning.
