UPDATED: Wind Advisory issued … yes, again

UPDATE 1/9/19 6am
Forecasters still expect windy conditions will develop at the coast and north interior today with the strongest winds occurring this afternoon and evening. But the Wind Advisory for the coast and north interior (including the Ferndale area) has been extended into the evening hours tonight. It is now scheduled to be in effect between noon today and 1am tomorrow.

In a move that is becoming cliché for this otherwise relatively mild winter weather season, Seattle office forecasters for the National Weather Service issued a Wind Advisory that will be in effect tomorrow, Wednesday, January 9th, from 6am to 6pm.

Southeast sustained winds of 25 to 35mph with gusts to 50mph are expected in the Admiralty Inlet Area, San Juan County, Western Skagit County and Western Whatcom County.

Strong winds are expected to develop Wednesday morning and continue through the afternoon.

The City recently acquired a new tool - the Drone Ranger. Here's one of its maiden voyages, flying over our recent Summer of Fun event Glow in the Dark Croquet. #FerndaleParks ... See MoreSee Less

Sweet! What kind of drone?

I think it's super awesome!

I always forget that park exists.

Is it going to be flying around all of ferndale?

Of course it's not legal to fly there, which is a problem. No fly zone!

very cool! I love drones. I need to fix mine.

Nice flying, Riley. You need a call sign...Park Ranger?

Um...shouldn't it be DARK for glow in the DARK croquet??? ...but cool toy nonetheless! 😁

I really see this purchase as a irresponsible use of taxpayer money. Also isn't Ferndale with in 5 miles of a airport?

Very cool! I can think of all kinds of uses for this, to help publicize events, and make cool videos about the city!

Would it be out of the question to attach guns to the drone? People need to know that Ferndale isn't messing around any longer!

Now we can find out who is burning garbage....

A few weeks ago this drone was flying over main street in Ferndale, VERY low to traffic and VERY distracting! Please keep it at a more respectful height. Id hate to file a claim against City of Ferndale for causing an accident by flying "their" drone to low!

What for? Might be a nice tool for the police department. Why was money spent on this?

Did your pilot obtain a license from the FAA to operate legally?
