A few Discover Ferndale readers noticed the Ferndale Holiday Tree was no longer being lit in the evenings. After doing some quick research it was learned the recent wind storms had disabled several of the strands of lights. According to an email from the Ferndale Chamber, who maintains the tree, it looked worse with the lights on than off.
According to Ferndale Chamber President Larry Hoffman, options were being pursued to reach and repair the darkened strands. Fortunately, when Star Rentals Ferndale Branch Manager Jack Stahl heard of their plight, Stahl happily donated a lift and had it brought to the tree.
Work commenced this afternoon and efforts were successful at restoring power to the light strands. According to Hoffman, most if not all strands were relit. “We learned a lot from this experience,” said Hoffman. “Next year, the connections will be near the bottom.”
Ferndale neighbors can expect see their tree lit nightly hereafter thanks to the help of a local business and volunteers.
