Construction on a roundabout at the intersection of Grandview and Kickerville Roads will begin Monday, July 16th according to the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT).
The intersection was converted from a 2-way to a 4-way stop when Slater Road was closed for 6 months last year and Kickerville and Grandview Roads were part of the truck detour route.
It was announced in December the 4-way stop would remain in place until a roundabout could be constructed at the intersection.
Once construction begins, drivers can expect lane closures and delays. But most of the work is not weather-dependent so WSDOT officials expect the project will be completed quickly. Around-the-clock flagging will be in place once the project begins and will continue for about a month.
WSDOT officials say the rationale behind the project is “to improve safety, reduce the severity of crashes and keep traffic moving.”
WSDOT officials say the project is expected to be completed in the fall.
