FERNDALE, Wash. — Whatcom Transportation Authority’s (WTA) annual Free Fare Week will be next week according to WTA officials. It begins Sunday, August 11th and continues through Saturday, August 17th. During this time, all bus rides within Whatcom County will be free. This includes Route 27 through Ferndale.

During the Northwest Washington Fair in Lynden WTA will be a providing a special 10pm bus from the fairgrounds back to Bellingham. The 10pm bus, also free to ride, will depart from a bus stop across the street from the fairgrounds located between the Bank of the Pacific branch and Fairside Drive. It will stop at the WTA Cordata Station and the WTA downtown Bellingham Station.

In addition to the special 10pm bus, WTA Route 26 provides bus service directly to the fairgrounds from the WTA Cordata Station. Runs between 6:20am and 8:20pm on weekdays and between 8:50am and 5:50pm on Saturday. WTA officials suggest using Route 26 and the WTA Cordata Station parking lot as an effective “park and ride” solution for NW Washington Fair goers, but note, “Parking is first come, first served, and overnight parking is not allowed.”
